The dominant feature of the neighbourhood is its close proximity to Northlands, an entertainment, business and educational complex operated by a not-for-profit community organization that hosts events at three primary facilities: Northlands Park Racetrack and Casino, (gaming and horse racing) Edmonton Expo Centre (conferences, trade shows and other special events) and Rexall Place, (professional sports and concerts). Every week thousands of people attend events in venues throughout its 160 acres of land.

Eastwood is benefitting from the revitalization of 118th Ave. between Northlands and 94th St. Since revitalization began, the city has invested in street upgrades, landscaping and sidewalk improvements, improved business facades as well as the staging of various festivals and community events.
